State Senator Mike Gabbard is criticizing the state's distribution of the H1N1 flu vaccine.

He says he's been contacted by doctors, constituents and other members of the medical community who are "disturbed about the lack of transparency in the vaccine distribution system."

"We all know how unpredictable the virus is so the government and the DOH should be more actively and aggressively be the voice for the people," said Senator Gabbard.

"It's not delivered to the Department. It's delivered directly to the physicians' office," said Janice Okubo with the Department of Health. "So there's no vaccine being held anywhere or being delayed at all."

Okubo says Hawaii has been getting about 20,000-30,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine every week, and that by January or February, there should be enough for everyone in Hawaii who wants one.
