Regal Entertainment Group will open its 10th movie theater complex in Hawaii next year at the Target-anchored Kapolei Commons in West Oahu, the state lawmaker representing the area says.

The 52,000-square-foot Regal Cinemas Kapolei Commons Stadium 12 was slated to open this fall, joining anchors Target, Sports Authority, Office Max and Petco at the retail center, which first opened in 2009.

State Sen. Mike Gabbard, D-Kapolei-Makakilo-Ewa, told the Hawaii Community Development Authority that Regal Theatres will open in the spring of 2016 and that the theater complex will feature electric reclining seats.

Regal Entertainment Group has nine other movie complexes in Hawaii: the Regal Dole Cannery in Honolulu, the Regal Cinemas 10 at Windward Mall in Kaneohe and the Regal Pearl Highlands Stadium 12, all on Oahu; two theaters in Kailua-Kona and two in Hilo on the Big island; and two theaters on Maui.

Earlier this year, DeBartolo Development announced that Consolidated Theatres will open its ninth location in Hawaii at its Ka Makana Alii shopping center in West Oahu. That theater is expected to feature a Titan XC screen and offer a menu created by Food Network veterans Bruce Seidel and Chef Santos Loo.
